Odisha State Bar Council (OSBC)

The Odisha State Bar Council (OSBC), High Court Annex, Cuttack, has invited applications for contractual appointment to six categories of posts: Assistant Secretary, Computer Assistant, Jr. Assistant, Jr. Stenographer, Peon, and Security Guard. OSBC Recruitment 2026 covers a total of 9 vacancies across these posts, all on a consolidated, contractual basis. Eligible and interested candidates must submit their applications offline to the office of the Odisha State Bar Council on or before 22.08.2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Assistant Secretary

• Degree in Law or a higher qualification
• Advocate with a minimum of 5 years of practice at the bar
• Able to speak and read Odia, and must have passed the M.E. school examination with Odia as a language subject

Computer Assistant

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university
• Proficiency in Computer with a minimum qualification of B.C.A. or equivalent, along with knowledge of Tally
• Experience of three years in online transactions
• Able to read, write, and speak Odia

Jr. Assistant

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university
• Proficiency in Computer with a minimum qualification of P.G.D.C.A. or equivalent, along with knowledge of Tally
• Knowledge of operating online transactions

Jr. Stenographer

• Passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com from Utkal University or a recognized university
• Minimum qualification of P.G.D.C.A. or equivalent
• Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm in English computer typewriting and 20 wpm in Odia typewriting
• Minimum shorthand speed of 60 wpm in both English and Odia
• Experience of three years

Peon and Security Guard

• Able to read, write, and speak Odia
• Must have passed Middle School examination with Odia as a language subject, or the High School examination (or equivalent) with Odia as a subject

Selection Process

• Assistant Secretary: Written test and a Viva-Voce (interview).
• Computer Assistant: Viva-Voce test.
• Jr. Assistant: Written test and a Viva-Voce test.
• Jr. Stenographer: Shorthand test in English and Odia, a computer test in English and Odia, and a Viva-Voce test.
• Peon and Security Guard: Viva-Voce test.

How to Apply Offline

• Obtain the prescribed application form for the relevant post (included in the notification).
• Fill up the form in block letters with all necessary details.
• Attach self-attested true copies of all required documents and two current passport-size colour photographs.
• Submit the completed application, along with enclosures, to the office of the Odisha State Bar Council, High Court Annex, Cuttack-753002, on or before 22.08.2026.
